I believe it was Mother Teresa that said she would never march in protest of war but if anyone ever wanted her to march for peace she would be happy to. Something like that… That’s basically the premise behind a fabulous app called “Buycott.”
The Buycott phone app allows consumers to make intelligent and safe decisions on the products they use and purchase based on their personal values and health goals. So, instead of taking the more negative view of boycotting you’re actions are shifted toward the positive view of supporting companies that are working for sustainable outcomes. Their website states; “When you use Buycott to scan a product, it will look up the product, determine what brand it belongs to, and figure out what company owns that brand (and who owns that company, ad infinitum). It will then cross-check the product owners against the companies and brands included in the campaigns you’ve joined, in order to tell you if the scanned product conflicts with one of your campaign commitments.” Very cool.
What I love about this app is not only does it allow you to stay true to your socio-political convictions – it provides full disclosure on what’s IN your product! GMO labeling has become tricky business these days – as has all product labeling for that matter. This app will give you the low down on all the foods and products you purchase and use on a daily basis.
Check it out here – you’re in for a few surprises!
