Testimonials for Dr. Nigh – Naturopathic Doctor and Acupuncturist

After I was diagnosed with an aggressive malignant brain tumor, I began a desperate search on the internet to figure out exactly what I was dealing with and how I was going to get rid of it. It didn’t take me long to become discouraged learning that even with surgery, chemo and radiation, I was only given the hope of living for 3-5 years. Through the most fortunate set of circumstances, I crossed paths with Dr. Nigh. In my world of cancer, he has by far become my most important ally. I have six doctors that I deal with regularly. Five of these doctors mean really well when it comes to treating my cancer. Dr. Nigh is the only one who has taught me that my body must first become well, in order to treat this cancer successfully. I am still alive 6 years after my initial diagnosis and one year longer than what conventional medicine could offer me. Not only am I surviving with the treatments that Dr. Nigh is giving me, but my body is thriving. This clinic has given my family and I the hope that nobody else could.”

Dr Nigh is brilliant. I live with a chronic disease and chronic pain. His continual genuine concern and caring for my health and welfare adds another dimension of hope beyond what the prescribed treatment has to offer. If laughter is good medicine, then Dr. Nigh has found the right dosage. Thank you for all your help and support through this challenging time.”

I was feeling worse and worse all of the time. I wasn’t actually sick, i.e., I didn’t have an identifiable disease of some kind, but I felt awful. I was tired all the time, sleeping away the weekends. I couldn’t lose weight and instead was slowly gaining. I was taking anti-depressants but didn’t feel any less depressed. I was turning 60 in a few months and my objective was to feel better by that time. I was ready to try something new.
I made by first appointment with Dr Nigh and things started moving. After running initial blood tests and having several conversations with me about my health and my goals, he developed a course of treatment. He put me on an elimination diet that immediately began improving my chronic heartburn. We discussed the results of my blood tests and made a few other changes. He also started me on an acupuncture course. Dr Nigh has recently added a T-3 prescription for my thyroid. In addition we had numerous conversations; I really felt that someone was taking me seriously and listening to my health concerns and not just looking at test results and telling me “I was in the normal range.” His holistic approach and not treating just my symptoms have made an incredible difference.
It has been a little over four months. I have lost about 25 pounds, no longer rely on caffeine to get me through the day, my digestion has dramatically improved, and I am getting off my anti-depressants and feeling better than I have in years.
I highly recommend Dr. Nigh. The changes that have occurred for me under his care have been nothing short of remarkable. When I came in, I felt like I was slowly falling into a big hole that I would never get out of. I feel like a new person today and look forward to continued progress.”

I was suffering from hyperthyroidism (and a few things I didn’t know about). When my regular physician wanted to kill off my thyroid with radioactive iodine in order to make me hypothyroid, because it was safer to take the medication for it than for hyperthyroidism, I thought I’d try a naturopath. Fortunately, a friend recommended Dr. Nigh.

Dr. Nigh diagnosed a number of physical complaints as related: they were all allergic reactions, including my thyroid troubles.  He changed my diet, administered acupuncture, and also did several lab tests that narrowed down the allergies.  By changing my diet, my thyroid levels changed to normal within three months — and have stayed that way, though it’s now three years later. This enabled me to get off hyperthyroid medication and one of the two blood pressure medications I was on.  In addition to allergies, the lab tests revealed that I had roundworms and tapeworms (!), which were easily cured with medication, improving my overall health and digestion.”

Dr. Nigh’s the best.  He’s funny, humane, and very sharp.  I urge you to visit him – especially if you have an auto-immune complaint or a “mystery” problem.  Heck, he even helped me when I had a herniated disc.”

I am a person with a physical disability. As other people living with disabilities know, western conventional approaches to medicine often focus on “making you comfortable” and “masking your symptoms”.  Too often I have felt with western medicine that my disability was perceived to be the root of any secondary ailment I might have.

When I first started seeing Dr. Nigh I suffered from debilitating respiratory infection associated with common colds and allergies.  I have a reduced respiratory capacity do to my disability, and so a simple cold would leave me incapacitated for up to three weeks, dependent on a nebulizer every two hours to breathe. Western Doctors would load me up with antibiotics and expectorants and I would suffer all winter long, lucky if I had a week or two before getting sick again. When I began treatment with Dr. Nigh he not only helped to ease the symptoms of what I was experiencing at the time he also spent valuable time working to develop regiments with me that would be preventative.  He was mindful of my lifestyle needs and limitations yet at the same time treating each issue as a unique piece to the whole picture of me, with my disability being just one small piece.  I can not tell you how refreshing it is to be seen as a person and not a disease.  I have continued to work with Dr. Nigh for over three years now and each year I have seen dramatic improvement in my health.  If I do get sick I am sick for less time and do not need to rely on the nebulizer or oral steroids.  I am currently halfway through the winter cold and flu season and have yet to get sick.  For those of you who think there is no help out there other than “making you comfortable” I highly recommend Dr. Nigh to you!”

I saw Dr. Nigh for acupuncture to relieve back pain.  After suffering for two weeks, I saw him for the first time and I had immediate pain relief.  I completed a questionnaire before my first appointment and indicated, in my response, that I had frequent sinus infections (every two months or so).  At my first appointment Dr. Nigh asked me about the frequent infections and indicated that there were things we could try to help reduce the frequency.

After my back pain was manageable, Dr. Nigh suggested that I try The Elimination Diet to determine if my frequent sinus infections were caused by food.  I was certainly skeptical and brushed it off initially.  After giving it some thought, I asked to read a copy of the diet.  I was intrigued and thought that if it didn’t help the sinus infections, I would still gain the knowledge of how food affects my body.

The impact of the diet was profound, and continues to be.  I started the diet in April of 2009.  It is now January 2010 and I haven’t had a single sinus infection since beginning the diet.  The first 10 days were very challenging, but it has become a way of life and is nearly effortless now.  Besides no sinus infections, I lost 25 pounds (and I was only about 5 pounds overweight to start with), I sleep better, I handle stress better and I have more energy than I ever have.  I generally feel great.  The written diet is very helpful and inspiring, but Dr. Nigh was helpful, via e-mail, when I would have questions about food, what was happening to my body, etc.  I was just ignorant about the effects of food on my body.  I would recommend seeing Dr. Nigh for an overall health assessment.  He may see things that you cannot see yourself and help you understand why your body is doing what it does.  He will take the time to listen to all of your concerns and guide you through a reasonable path to health without the use of drugs or medication.”

I have had Multiple Sclerosis, Lupus and hypothyroidism for over 20 years. Although I had been doing fairly well, I had a severe MS flare in January 2009 that caused me to lose 6 weeks of work. I saw several conventional doctors, but my condition continued to worsen. I found Dr. Nigh through an internet search. I felt confident from my first visit because Dr. Nigh’s approach was so rational. Instead of stuffing me with pills, he ran more sensitive blood tests than I had ever had. He also suggested an elimination diet since MS patients often have “leaky gut” due to severe food allergies. I had been seeing doctors for thyroid medication for 35 years, but Dr. Nigh was the first to discover I had Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. This finally explained the extreme shifts in weight I had regularly experienced. Acupuncture and supplements slowed my symptoms. Once we had discovered the foods I was allergic to and eliminated them, my health rapidly improved. I’ve lost over 50 pounds, but more importantly, my thyroid is stable for the first time. Instead of being bedridden and in pain, I am able to live an active healthy life. I don’t think any of these dramatic improvements would be possible without Dr. Nigh’s expert assistance. In my opinion, he lives the Hippocratic Oath.”

Unrelenting nausea and fatigue and a desire to work with a naturopathic doctor led me to Dr. Greg [Nigh].  He took time to understand the total me: soul, mind, body. He recommended lifestyle changes and supplements to improve my well being.  Dr Greg’s recommendations have decreased the nausea and improved my emotional health.  While many treatments are applied to cover the symptoms, true healing can only come from within. I urge anyone looking for true healing to contact Dr. Greg [Nigh].”
