Dr. Rose Paisley, Naturopathic Physician, takes great pride in her profession – one that inspires health through education, positive change, personal growth, and sophisticated medicine rooted in nature cure. Dr. Rose has been practicing at Nature Cures Clinic in downtown Portland since her graduation from National College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2002. She has an established Family Medicine practice with an emphasis on gynecology, pediatrics, physical medicine, gastroenterology, and detoxification.
Dr. Rose is creative with the most up to date conventional and alternative diagnostics and treatments when addressing both acute and chronic conditions. She individualizes medical care with the healing power of food, herbs, movement, water, touch and homeopathy. Individually and collectively these naturopathic tools enable her to address many conditions. She strongly believes in working closely with her patients to help them help themselves. When appropriate, she encourages collaboration with family, friends and other health care providers, in hopes to attain the best possible care as well as quality of life.
Collectively, Dr. Rose has over 10 years of training in the Health Sciences. After receiving her Bachelors Degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa (where she found her inspiration to become a Naturopathic Physician), she attended Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington. While attending Bastyr she completed her basic science studies and basic science boards - she complemented her education with six weeks of study in Borneo. While in Borneo, Rose followed a medical team through villages along the Baram River, attended a rotation at a Hospital in Marudi, and explored traditional medicine of the ancient rainforests in the company of her generous hosts and dear friends of a Kayan Village. Upon return, her work and experience was acknowledged as three courses: Spirituality and Medicine, Traditional Medicine in the Baram, and Rural Health Care.
This experience was fundamental to the origination of an established, funded study abroad program that is highly sought after by Bastyr medical students today. After much contemplation, Dr. Rose transferred to National College of Naturopathic Medicine to be closer to family and to participate in the highly regarded clinical education that NCNM offers here in Portland. Attendance at Bastyr was a fantastic experience. It is an excellent school, and will always be where she was introduced to the art and science of Natural Medicine. However, it is in her nature to take on new challenges and to explore her possibilities.
Dr. Rose has a great love for nature and an inspiring social environment, which she is fully able to explore and appreciate in Portland. She prides herself in being an active member of her community – offering free health education around town, being politically active, and supporting local businesses. Further, she is committed to recycling, biking, organic gardening, minimizing wasteful consumption and vocalizing her views - she strives to reduce the earth’s burden and improve the human condition. She attributes her love of life and infectious laughter to her husband Greg and daughter Lola.
