Great information! Is there a recommended dose amount for magnesium and for fish oil?
Thanks,
Angie
Hi Angela,
Thanks for writing in. According to NC’s Dr. Greg Nigh:
The magnesium dose depends on the form of magnesium taken. A healthy dose is 800mg daily, but if that is taken as a magnesium oxide it will likely cause diarrhea. Better forms of magnesium are magnesium citrate, malate, aspartate or orotate.
As for fish oil, every one sold will list the amount of two essential fatty acids (EFAs) on the label: EPA and DHA. As a daily health maintenance dose, the EPA + DHA content should add up to 2 grams daily. Higher doses are indicated for specific conditions, but it is important to see a health care practitioner experienced in using high dose EFAs for more information.
